Finally An Employee!

After months of searching hospitals...

...countless applications...

...connection upon connection upon connection...

...hearing "I hear there is a huge demand for nursing!" a thousand times, when I'm not even doing nursing...

...months of poor Jeffrey/my mom/Jeffrey's mom having to assure me that I'll find something...

I got a job!

I am now a Respiratory Therapist at Hoag Hospital of Newport Beach.

I am beyond excited for this job and the ability to start a career! All of my years of schooling has led to this and it is so nice to finally be getting an INCOME. (I don't even really know what that means).
Wish me luck!

Cherry Blossoms

Last weekend I had the chance to come out to DC to meet my newest little nephew! Jeffrey had to stay home and study (#lawschoolprobz) and I was sad he couldn't come  with me meet Drake. He wished he could come too (although that just gives us more of a reason to go see them soon!) but he was a good student and spent literally all weekend in the library. I flew out on a Thursday which ended up being perfect timing for the cherry blossoms!

We spent the first day touring around the Tidal Basin, taking in the beautiful views of pink puffy trees next to the water.

The next day we went to a little housing development that is known for their cherry blossoms. It was crazy how many people were there at the same time as us. It was such a cute little neighborhood.

We went to the farmer's market which was so cute! They had fun little trinkets and I ended up getting two necklaces.

I spent all weekend cuddling, kissing, and holding this cute little guy. I never wanted to put him down! He's so adorable and I'm so excited that Chad and Randi get to be parents to this little nugget.

Easter

I just got back from an awesome trip to DC to meet my cute little nephew, Drake! More to come on that later, I still need to play catch up on Easter.

We continued Jeffrey's grandparents' fun tradition of easter egg hunting and pin the tail on the easter bunny this year. If you remember, this game gets quite competitive due to the fact that many of the eggs are filled with cash. Not to mention the winner of the pin the tail on the easter bunny gets a wonderful cash prize. I find myself forgetting that the people around me are all family and instead elbowing anyone who comes in the way of my eggs. Sometimes it's hard not to want to find a tiny gap in the scarf blindfold that will guarantee you go home with some money in your pocket. It always turns out to be a fun time watching people dizzily try to make their way to the easter bunny poster, or argue over who found that egg first.

Will showing me what the Easter bunny brought him.

Mine is somewhere right next to the tail. Don't worry about it.

Being an attentive uncle

Jeffrey and I tried hard to get a cute Easter picture but for some reason it was just not working out that day. Either he was blinking, or I hated what I looked like. Literally 35 pictures later (thanks Nicole!) and we ended with one that was barely decent. Here's a taste of pictures from which we had to choose. (Slim pickings)

Trying out a different pose that always makes me feel like it's a maternity shoot.

Trying not to squint...

Jeffrey was a good sport for putting up with my persistence.

Hope everyone had a great Easter!

California Crazies, pt 2

I have been bad at blogging lately and I apologize. I would like to redeem my lack of blogging by giving you another addition of crazy things I have seen since moving to California.

It makes me laugh to see the volume of liberal bumper stickers here. These are a few of my favorites. I especially like the man who is part of the 99% but lives in Santa Monica. Or the "Tax the Rich".

One day Jeffrey and I were watching TV in our apartment when we realized that a helicopter had been circling our apartment for a good 15 minutes. We went outside to look and there it was, eerily circling right above our roof. It was so close that I could see the person inside the helicopter. All of a sudden, we hear over the loudspeaker "SIR, PUT THE WEAPON DOWN. PUT THE GUN DOWN, SIR!" That was a definite first.

Yikes. I don't really know what to say about this one. Nor would I know how to explain this to a kid if we were driving by.

Not uncommon to turn on my TV and see a high-speed chase through the streets of LA. This guy happened to pass right next to Jeffrey's school!

Can't escape the hippies. Sorry this picture is blurry, but it says that the popcorn bag was made from 100% recycled paper. I'm sure if Santa Monica had its way it would be a bag full of organic, gluton-free, vegan celery sticks.

Good for you, old man.

Just your run-of-the-mill helicopter spotlight shining on and around my car.

A common experience in our area is to be in front of a old dilapidated car, but behind a brand new Rolls Royce. Divverrssiitttyyy

During the election (don't want to talk about it still) Los Angeles County had to vote on Measure B. Did you read it? It's asking us to vote as to whether porn stars should have to wear condoms during filming. Why in the world do I have to vote on this?

Oops! Thought that was the only billboard? Think again. All over the city.

You just never know what to expect over here. But we love it and right now in our lives we wouldn't want to live anywhere else!
